I've got the Behringer UMC driver installed too.

Yes, I don't know either and I haven't got another UMC interface to test it with. I've got no way of knowing without purchasing another one, and I'm reluctant to do so.

Would it be possible for you guys to find out if that would work?
    Hi Andreas,

I only have one UMC404HD as well. I'd recommend contacting CARE at the following link: http://www.musictri.be/support/behringer/askquestion

Can't get UMC HD to record an internal sound source (VST instrument)

Just hooked up my UMC404HD I'm cubes I have the umc driver selected in the device setup.
I have set up a instrument channel in Cubase with a vst instrument and a audio channel for recording the output of the vst to. I have stereo in selected as the input buss. Nothing get recorded, also direct monitoring is greyed out as a option in the device setup in Cubase.

What am I to do??? with my M audio card I just turned on direct monitoring set signal level pressed record and all was well.

    thanks for any help

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you wrote, but if you are recording an instrument virtually in your DAW then I don't think that wouldn't have anything specific to do with your audio interface unless that's where the signal is coming in. Sounds like you have to set that up signal routing properly within your DAW.

Are you trying to trigger notes with an external controller via MIDI?

    trying to record vsts

I am trying to record a synth vst (for example) have it record while I trigger it via midi keyboard. Is there any way to route audio internally with the UMC404 on my old audio card I would enable direct monitoring test levels and enable recording and the sounds from the vst synth would be recoreded a audio track I set up. The only way I have figured out to get vst synth to record is to run patch cables from two of the outs on the UMC404 to the two ins and record that way.

    thanks

So since the Synth VST you are trying to record is already present in the computer you are recording with, using the UMC404HD to 'record' that is unnecessary. It doesn't sound like you're having any troubles creating notes in your DAW via MIDI but please let me know if that playing a factor in this. Routing signal from the DAW output to your UMC404HD outputs and then feeding the signal back into the UMC404HD's inputs shouldn't be needed since all the necessary elements are already contained there n your computer/DAW

The VSP Synth plugin(s) you're using with your specific DAW should have a way to route that signal into a newly created track and be able to record what you are doing via MIDI or otherwise. For more information on how to do that specifically I'd suggest checking your software's documentation or by contacting the creators of your DAW/VST plugin directly for more specific information. They will likely be able to better assist you with this. If they are able to provide a viable solution then please come back and share that information in the forum so other members can benefit from it as well.

Hope this is helpful for you.

    Umc404hd dead umc1802doa

These interface are great- WHEN they work. I bought an UMC1802 from Sweetwater, but DOA. So I sent it back and got the 4 channel UMC404HD. This worked great on my desktop for16 months. Unplugged it and took it to a drum recording session- and suddenly it failed, no connection, buzzing, clipping on two channels with nothing plugged in- just fried. I didn't drop it, bang it or anything, moved it with care, used the factory power. Same problem with USB power. Who knows, it's failed. What Sweetwater failed to tell me was that to get the 3 year warranty, you have to register the unit online right after purchase. NO ONE mentioned that to me, nothing in the box saying so. MAYBE Sweetwater will still honor the 3 year promised warranty- I'm waiting to find out. They hinted at such, but need to talk to service on Mon. Behringer won't honor the promised and advertised 3 year warranty because I didn't register it upon purchase. Lovely. I've got four other Prosonus interfaces, at least 10 years old each, they all work flawlessly. So, buyer, beware. Dependable quality doesn't come cheap- at least in my experience. $99 is great- till it fails.
